Update:
Keeping children safe in education (KCSiE) guidance
The Department for Education (DfE) will be updating ‘Keeping children safe in education’ (KCSiE) guidance with technical changes only, ready for implementation from the 1st September 2024.
KCSIE is statutory guidance of which all schools and colleges must adhere to when carrying out duties to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. Designated Safeguarding Leads and school/college leaders are encouraged to read KCSIE 2024 in full to ensure they understand the safeguarding requirements.
It is anticipated that there will be more substantive updates, encompassing wider changes, to be delivered in 2025 following the call for evidence. Consultation closes on 20th June 2024 and can be accessed here.
To support Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) and Senior Leadership Teams (SLT) we will be delivering a briefing webinar to support your awareness and implementation of the online safety specific statements within KCSiE 2024. This will support you to review your current online safety safeguarding provision and identify any gaps that need to be actioned, so that you meet the 2024 requirements and are better prepared to adopt the wider changes and updates that are expected in 2025.
