Optimising data in defence
Smarter, more adaptable technologies enhance efficiency, capacity, and agility in managing changes and challenges.
Elevating digital infrastructure at RAF Lossiemouth
RAF Lossiemouth is a frontline operational quick response aircraft base, in the process of upgrading its digital communications infrastructure and security measures. On behalf of RAF Lossiemouth, Electranet has designed and installed an extensive network upgrade and cleared the way for a further expansion of the fibre ring network.
As part of a number of CCTV projects, we have upgraded the strategic locations for security cameras, now live-streamed to the newly installed AV Wall which now forms part of the much-enhanced new 24/7 operational police flight security control room.
Enabling intelligent connectivity for digital transformation
Electranet, Capita’s secure network infrastructure specialist group, offers structured cabling and network solutions to security and smart buildings. We provide turnkey intelligent connectivity solutions across corporate, government and high security environments.
As an industry-recognised secure IT infrastructure expert, we’ve delivered thousands of miles of connectivity for ships and submarines, but also football stadiums, airports, and skyscrapers across the globe, connecting thousands of people, institutions and businesses.
We’ve installed the wireless infrastructure and cabling at more than 200 Royal Navy, Army and RAF sites in the deployment of Defence Business Internet (DBI). This flexible working solution provides business grade WiFi infrastructure and mobility solutions to let people work anywhere, at any time, and to make them more efficient and effective in their roles.
Delivering optimised training scheduling for the Royal Navy
With thousands of different courses being delivered each year for multiple branches and across multiple training establishments, the process for planning and scheduling training is extremely complex.
Team Fisher and the Royal Navy have designed and built a ‘Scheduling Optimisation Engine’ (SOE) solution to modernise this process.
The SOE applies the latest data analytics and processing technologies to digitally capture training demand and automatically generate an optimised training schedule considering course dependencies and resource requirements, predict shortfalls, and allow ‘what if’ scenarios to be run to optimise further.
We are piloting the SOE to generate training schedules for Weapons Engineering courses and will then iterate the solution and extend through 2023. The SOE is helping to get better trained people to the front line faster, by accelerating the annual planning cycle to become an agile and dynamic process.
