This course is delivered over two sessions providing practical support and advice for those who have a Data Protection Lead role in schools. It will help you reflect on your day-to-day practice and develop strategies that support appropriate compliance.
At the end of the session, delegates will:
Gain an understanding of the Data Protection Lead role
Develop your understanding of data breaches and how to maintain compliance.
Delegates are required to attend and commit to the course dates: 15 March and 18 March 2022

22 March 2022 (14:00-16:00) This course is delivered over three sessions, over several weeks. As part of this course, delegates will have an opportunity to reflect on their practices and add actions to the school’s Computing improvement plan.
At the end of the session delegates will:
Gain an understanding of their strategic role in developing and leading computing across the school
Gain an awareness of the deep-dive approach used to evaluate computing to self-evaluate the school’s provision to identify strengths and areas for development within the subject
Understand the statutory responsibilities regarding safeguarding online safety
Delegates are required to attend and commit to the course dates: 22 March, 28 March, and 5 April 2022
23 March 2022 (13:30-15:30)
This introductory course will help you gain the knowledge and skills needed to teach pupils to program as part of your Computing Curriculum. Delegates will be introduced to the basic functions of scratch and explore the different coding blocks available. The course covers the progression required, using Scratch to teach KS2 programming and practical activities. Delegates will gain the knowledge and skills needed to teach pupils to produce stories, games, and animations to give them a solid basis in programming techniques, an important strand of the computing curriculum.
29 March 2022 (13:00 – 15:30)
This course will examine some of the issues that pupils are exposed to.
Delegates will be trained to use Smoothwall Monitor to identify online and offline threats before they become real incidents. As part of the session, delegates will be trained to set risk levels to capture alerts, learn to navigate the monitoring solution, discuss best practices, gain an understanding of the role Smoothwall Monitor plays in supporting safeguarding and behaviour practices, and Customising your school’s digital safeguarding plans. This session will support Heads, Senior Leaders, or the safeguarding team to meet the requirements of “Keeping Children Safe in Education”.
