A focus on KCSIE (FREE briefing)
Keeping children safe in education places the requirement to provide appropriate filtering and monitoring on schools and more guidance on what these systems should cover is provided by the UK Safer Internet Centre. Neither site however goes into any details about how the systems work and, as they are often procured by technical staff, this can lead to a misunderstanding within senior leadership as to the level of protection provided.Using non-technical language, this session will discuss how educational filtering systems and monitoring software actually works, explaining some of the common misconceptions as to their efficacy and highlighting potential limitations of the different systems.
Following the session senior leaders will know what questions to ask to be able to critically evaluate the provision across their settings allowing them to carry out accurate online safety risk assessments to safeguard their students.
