Governors conference 2021
Entrust delivered the Halton Governors Conference on Friday 19th November.
Attended by 55 school governors from the Borough of Halton, the conference theme was ‘the role of governors in ensuring an inclusive education for all children and young people’.
The whole conference was thought provoking and challenging. I found the contributions from every speaker to be really helpful and very interesting.
The keynote address was delivered by Annamarie Hassall, MBE and CEO of the National Association of Special Education Needs. Graham Tague, Head of Governor Services at Entrust delivered a session on governor responsibilities relating to exclusions.
Other sessions included effective support and challenge, governor accountability and ensuring student and staff wellbeing.
Delegates also took part in a practical workshop on how Lego® therapy can be used as a strategy to manage behaviour for some pupils. This session was delivered by qualified Lego® therapist Anji Franklin from the Special Educational Need and Inclusion team at Entrust.
The Entrust team
The conference was well received with 100% of delegates rating it as 'good' or 'very good' (86% very good) and 100% of delegates agreeing with the statement ‘the Halton Governors Conference has given me knowledge which will positively impact my role as a governor’.
