Each year Nuffield Health performs over 300,000 diagnostic imaging examinations across its national network.
Capita and their partners (Insignia Medical Systems, BridgeHead Software and Healthcare Software Systems) have been working closely with Nuffield Health since 2013 delivering a managed Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), Clinical Radiology Information System (CRIS) and Independent Clinical Archive (ICA) service across its 33 sites in the UK.
In 2017 Nuffield Health sought Capita’s expertise to identify a solution to manage, share and store patients images and radiological reports in a safe and efficient manner.
Working closely with its partner; BridgeHead Software, Capita developed a new software-as-a-service solution; ResolutionMD® as part of its enterprise medical imaging technology stack*. The solution enables radiology consultants to view patients’ medical images and other related data from any location, on any device, and facilitates a consistent, reliable approach to sharing accurate information in a timely manner, which helps better protect patients’ privacy and reduces delays in accessing patient data.
As the images can be displayed instantly on portable devices such as tablets, it allows clinicians to share images with patients and colleagues without having to print them. This eliminates the possibility of misplaced or lost images, frees up staff resources and removes costs associated with film, chemicals and storage.
ResolutionMD® is the latest solution being delivered as part of Capita’s Managed Service Partnership; established in 2013 to provide a single point of contact for Nuffield Health for Incident, Change, Problem and Event management in the integration and operation of PACS, CRIS and ICA.
Capita’s PACS solution provided in conjunction with partners Insignia Medical Systems is used by Nuffield Health to store, view, communicate and archive patient medical imaging data. Supporting a faster transfer time for patients moving on to their next treatment or through to discharge, resulting in fewer wasted or repeated appointments.
Capita partners with Healthcare Software Systems’ (HSS) to deliver the Clinical Radiology Information System (CRIS), which enables an enterprise view of all patient activity making episode and diagnostic report data available to all Nuffield Health clinicians, this allows for continuity of care across multiple healthcare settings.
BridgeHead Softwares HealthStore™ Independent Clinical Archive (ICA), is used as part of the complete Capita solution for long-term image storage. Referred to by analysts as a next generation vendor neutral archive (VNA), HealthStore™ offers a single, standards-based repository for the storing, protecting and sharing of all healthcare information.
Implementing the latest ResolutionMD®solution from Capita means that Nuffield Health’s clinicians now have secure access to any of the data held within the Independent Clinical Archive (ICA), regardless of device – all they need is an internet connection.
At Nuffield Health, consultants and clinicians are now empowered to provide the efficient diagnoses and resulting treatment for patients, providing better care and achieving better patient outcomes.
Nationally Nuffield Health have gained clear improvements in the stability and consistency of their PACS & RIS solution. Locally sites have gained the benefit of remote access to images as well as greater statistical analysis of their department workflow allowing all their Radiology Managers efficient monitoring and reporting of their performance metrics. All these benefits have directly led to an improved quality of the service provided to patients.
