These 2-hour briefings are a must for Chairs and Vice Chairs in maintained schools and academies wishing to ensure their knowledge of statutory regulations, recommendations and good practice is up to date as well as to share experiences with other governance leaders. Headteachers or senior leaders are also welcome to attend if the Chair and/or Vice Chair are unable to attend.

Welcome to Governance - understanding your roles and responsibilities - Part 1

This course will explore, with other new Governors, the roles and responsibilities of a Governor, the Governing Board and the Headteacher. We will begin to discuss the techniques that can be used to give confidence in fulfilling this new role, whilst also giving Governors the opportunity to seek advice, ask questions and understand effective practice.
